Wägilak – Life Cycle of Bees

The Gaḏayka Stringybark tree belongs to the Dhuwa moiety and is sacred for the Wägilak and other Dhurili clans. It is the tree that Gandjaḻaḻa the Sugarbag Hunter cut down as he journeyed across Wägilak Country, bringing everything into being. Native Yarrpany bees make their hives in the hollows of the tree. Wägilak people collect honey and wax from these hives.
