The Welcome to Balardong* film series shares the stories of Ballardong Noongar Custodians, reflecting on their lives growing up on York Reserve and Ballardong Noongar Country. Through these personal accounts, the films capture what it was like to grow up Aboriginal in Western Australia during times of profound change and challenge.
The series includes stories of resilience, culture, and community, such as Audrey Stealing Almonds, Grandma’s Love Saved Me From the Fire, Shearing Days, The York Reserve, and Working on the Railway Line.
*Since the film Welcome to Balardong was released the community has agreed to a new spelling of Ballardong. For this reason there are two different spellings used, reflecting both the current agreed-upon spelling and the original title of the film. Please note: this spelling of “Ballardong” is used in the Ballardong Noongar Dictionary.
