In this unit

Students explore the meaning and contemporary significance of a ‘Welcome to Country’ and an ‘Acknowledgement of Country’. By comparing diverse perspectives, including media commentary and panels, students investigate the origins, purpose, and evolving role of these practices in contemporary Australia.
Finally, students apply their learning by co-creating a class ‘Acknowledgement of Country’ that is accurate, local, and meaningful, reflecting their understanding.
