Taribelang Bunda people are the Traditional Custodians of the Bundaberg region. Our Country extends north to Baffle Creek, south to the Burrum River and west to the Mount Perry ranges, encompassing freshwater rivers and waterways, coastlines and the southern Great Barrier Reef.
The stories shared throughout this collection reflect our enduring connection to Country and our responsibility to care for the lands, waters and skies.
In this series of activities, students watch the Taribelang Bunda films Wake Up Meebar, Sea Country and Rangers on Country to explore the life cycles of freshwater and sea turtles. They investigate how scientists classify living things, play a game of animal Celebrity Heads, and create a life cycle wheel.
In this series of activities, students watch the Taribelang Bunda stories, Wake Up Meebar animation, Sea Country film and River Country film. They participate in yarning circles, and complete an animal classification activity. They explore how First Nations knowledges and science work together to care for native animals and protect Country.
In this series of activities, students explore seasonal change, ecosystems and biodiversity through the Taribelang Bunda stories. They learn how Traditional Owners and scientists observe and monitor changes in nature to care for Country. Students then apply these ideas by investigating a local plant, animal or seasonal indicator and creating a seasonal calendar inspired by their own observations.
