Wamba Wamba – Middens

Ancient midden sites can be found in many places along the banks of the Murray and other Australian rivers and lakes. Middens are areas where First Nations people discarded food scraps and other waste products. They typically contain shells, animal bones, and other materials which enable us to understand how people lived, what their diets were like and how these changed over time.
