Register below for this free, self-paced professional learning journey with Jajoo Warrngara and SharingStories Foundation,(opens in new tab) designed to support Victorian educators in building confidence embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander content and perspectives in your planning, teaching and whole school environment.
Registration unlocks free access to all our teaching resources, including interactive bilingual books, videos, discovery maps, cultural protocols and lesson guides.
- Timeline: This one year program commences Term 4, 2026.
- Structure: Participants will complete six, self-paced learning modules.
- Content: Each module transitions from theory to practice using activities, lessons and media from Jajoo Warrngara: the Culture Classroom(opens in new tab).
- Curriculum Alignment: All resources are created in partnership with First Nations communities and are mapped to the Victorian Curriculum.
- Reflective Practice: Following each module, participants will attend a scheduled, one-hour online reflective workshop facilitated by a First Nations educator.
A Certificate of Participation, referencing the AITSL Australian Professional Standards for Teachers addressed in this course, will be awarded upon completion of all six modules.
Course Outline
Following is an outline of the Learning Modules you’ll cover over the duration of the course.
Module One
Embedding First Nations Perspectives – professional and personal accountabilities
Outcome: Understand why embedding First Nations perspectives is both a professional and personal responsibility as a Victorian educator — and reflect where you are on this journey. Let us introduce you to SharingStories and explore the Jajoo Warrngara platform, as you learn about the communities behind the resources you’ll use throughout this course.
Module Two
Navigating Jajoo Warrngara: The Culture Classroom – protocols, lesson plans and curriculum mapping in practice
Outcome: Confidently navigate Jajoo Warrngara: The Culture Classroom and learn how to locate, adapt and apply relevant resources to your classroom while understanding the cultural protocols that govern their use. Discover what makes these resources different to other resources available and why they are a trusted source for educators.
Module Three
First Nations Pedagogies and Frameworks – applying established First Nations ways of knowing and teaching
Outcome: In this module, you’ll explore First Nations pedagogies and frameworks by designing and implementing learning experiences centred on collaboration and shared progress to create an inclusive environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive.
Module Four
Understanding Your Students and their Communities – meeting the AITSL Standards with confidence
Outcome: Meet AITSL Standards 1.4 and 2.4 with confidence and create inclusive classrooms where First Nations knowledge is honoured, and Koorie students are empowered. This module shifts the focus from ‘ticking a box’ to building deep, culturally responsive expertise.
Module Five
From Classroom Practice to Whole-School Culture – creating a Safe and Inclusive School
Outcome: Take your classroom practice to the wider school environment and learn to identify and implement sustainable, whole-school strategies — spanning staffing models, curriculum design and community relationships — and clarify your personal agency in driving positive change within your school environment.
Module Six
Developing Strong Relationships – exploring the Koorie Culture Map to expand your understanding of Koorie cultures and local histories and connect with local communities
Outcome: Explore stories, languages and culturally significant places across Victoria through this interactive map created in collaboration with Koorie communities and aligned with the Victorian curriculum. Learn how to support your students to develop a greater appreciation of Koorie cultures, perspectives and knowledges through this immersive, place-based experience.
For Victorian educators teaching years 3-10. Relief funding for rural teachers provided for teacher release upon application.
Course commences Term 4 and progresses through 2027.
